ATD welcomes Trevor Garcia to our growing team of training specialists.

As All Things Decontamination continues to grow, we are very pleased to announce that Trevor Garcia has agreed to join our team of training specialists to help review and deliver our City & Guilds accredited training programmes.

Trevor has 42 years’ experience in decontamination of medical devices, rising from a trainee manager position to becoming an NHS Trust Decontamination Lead. During that time, he has been responsible for new buildings of sterile services and endoscopy units, as well as ensuring that his teams are well educated, trained and competent in their role. For Trevor, this is key to ensuring that patient safety is kept paramount. This relentless focus on training and education saw Trevor appointed to the role of Director of Education for the Institute of Decontamination Science (IDSc) from 2011-2017. During that time Trevor led the development of the apprenticeship programmes for HCS Assistant (Level 2) and Associate (Level 4) in collaboration with Health Education England and Pearsons.

He retired from the NHS in 2019 and set up his own decontamination consultancy business and has been involved in many aspects of decontamination over the past 7 years, including training and education of decontamination personnel at all levels. He was the IDSc National Chairman from 2022- 2025 and led on the writing of the NHSE NHS Estates Technical Bulletin (NETB/2024/1) competency framework for staff working in sterile services and decontamination departments.

We are delighted to have Trevor on board and working alongside Tony Sullivan and the rest of the team as we continue to gain traction within the NHS, private healthcare and service providers.
